In the waters near Larnaca, a large shark has been spotted.
A sizable shark was sighted in the sea off the coast of Larnaca, prompting concerns among social media users about the presence of this potentially dangerous predator.
According to Philenews, the marine predator was observed in the waters near Larnaca just two days ago. A video capturing the shark was shared on Instagram by a user with the username fishinggreece.gr. The footage depicts a large specimen swimming near a fishing boat. However, the author of the post was unable to identify the species of the shark and sought assistance from their followers.
"Two days ago, a shark appeared in Larnaca, Cyprus. Can any of you identify the species?" the post's author inquired.
It's worth noting that earlier reports indicated the discovery of dead fish on the Dekelia beach near the British bases in Cyprus, raising concerns within the Department of Fisheries.
Furthermore, at the end of February, a shark was caught in fishermen's nets off the coast of the TRNC. Ecologists clarified that the deceased fish belonged to a very rare species and posed no threat to humans.
