Man arrested in Nicosia for stalking: four years of harassing his ex-partner
Nicosia police are investigating a prolonged stalking case. The story began back in 2021, when a 39-year-old resident of the capital could not come to terms with the breakup. His former partner, of the same age, noticed that the man kept showing up nearby: sometimes by her house, sometimes at her workplace.

Over time, the obsessive “coincidental meetings” were followed by messages — increasingly insistent and threatening. For four years the woman lived with the feeling that she was being watched.
Eventually she turned to the police. Officers from Nicosia’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested the man and charged him with stalking. He is now awaiting trial.
The problem of domestic and gender-based violence remains serious in Cyprus. In 2024 alone, 3,322 such cases were recorded.
