Two Britons Given Suspended Sentences for Smoking on a Plane in Paphos
The Paphos District Court has sentenced two British citizens for smoking on a flight to the resort and consuming alcohol they had brought onboard. Both Britons received suspended prison sentences of four months each.
According to Michalis Nikolaou, the Assistant Director of Paphos Police, the incident occurred on the morning of August 26.
Crew members of the flight from Manchester to Paphos Airport filed a complaint against the two British passengers, a 50-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman. During the flight, the pair drank alcohol they had brought with them and smoked e-cigarettes inside the cabin.
Despite multiple warnings from the crew, the pair responded with insults.
Upon arrival in Paphos, both passengers were arrested and taken to the district court. They pleaded guilty to their offenses and were sentenced to four months of suspended imprisonment.
