A lipid and cardiovascular risk clinic operates in Paphos, Cyprus
A specialized cardiovascular risk and lipid clinic operates within the Cardiology Department of Paphos General Hospital in Cyprus, according to the institution’s announcement. The clinic is headed by Dr. Angeliki Mouzari.
The report notes that hyperlipidemia — elevated cholesterol and/or triglycerides — is asymptomatic and may lead to atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke, and chronic peripheral vascular disease. Early screening and timely diagnosis, according to the clinic, reduce the risk of severe complications.
The clinic offers both primary and secondary prevention. Primary prevention includes comprehensive risk assessment focusing on LDL-C, HDL-C, triglycerides, and Lp(a), evaluation of family history, development of personalized treatment plans, and, when familial hypercholesterolemia is suspected, genetic testing and a dedicated program for patients and their family members. Secondary prevention involves intensive monitoring, adjustment of lipid-lowering therapy according to international guidelines, and coordinated care to reduce recurrence risk and improve survival.
The clinic participates in scientific projects in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Genetics Research Laboratory of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK). For appointments and additional information, the phone number +357 26803436 and the clinic’s website link are provided.
