Paphos Launches Public Call for Historic Artifacts and Photographs for New Museum Project
The Municipality of Paphos has announced a public initiative to collect historic artifacts and photographs related to the city's heritage and culture. The collected items will contribute to the creation of a network of municipal museums.
Residents who own objects of historical or cultural significance are encouraged to donate or lend them for future exhibitions. Each item will be assessed by experts and displayed with a plaque crediting the donor or lender.
The collection effort focuses on old photographs, documents, diaries, letters, maps, stamps, newspapers, lithographs, and posters. Items connected to Paphos’ sports history—such as trophies, medals, flags, banners, and awards—are also highly sought after.
In addition, the museum will accept Eastern Mediterranean artworks, including paintings, sculptures, engravings, silverware, and carpets, as well as Byzantine relics such as manuscripts, early printed books, icons, and wood carvings.
