NEW FRESH FARMERS' MARKET TO OPEN IN PAPHOS
A new municipal agricultural fair is being built in Paphos. It will be located on the site of the "Pervola" municipal parking lot in the city's renovated traditional commercial center and will cover an area of approximately 500 square meters.
According to the acting Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, the project aims to fill an important gap that has existed in the city in recent years. Residents and visitors to the region have long insisted on the return of a market format where fresh produce can be purchased directly from producers. This practice is especially popular among tourists, for whom visiting local markets is part of the cultural experience.
It is expected that in the near future, consumers will be able to purchase products directly from farmers—at more affordable prices and effectively "from field to table."
The new laiki agora (popular market) will also benefit the producers themselves, as it will allow them to increase their income by reducing the role of intermediaries.
