Five Fires Erupt Simultaneously in Paphos – Now Under Control
On Thursday evening, five separate fires broke out almost simultaneously in the Paphos region. Thankfully, all of them are now under control. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of arson.
According to emergency services, the first blaze ignited late in the evening in the community of Skoulli. Five fire engines were dispatched from the Polis Chrysochous and Stroumpi fire stations, supported by equipment from the Forestry Department. Two firefighting aircraft and two bulldozers, provided by the Paphos District Administration, were also involved in the operation.
Firefighters managed to contain the flames between the communities of Skoulli and Steni. In total, about 1.5 hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation were burned, along with several trees and irrigation hoses.
Fire crews remained at the scene until the flames were completely extinguished. According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the exact cause of the fires is still under investigation, with the Paphos police leading the inquiry.
