As a result of an accident, the drinking water supply was cut off in several areas of Nicosia

On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, due to a breakdown of the central water pipeline in the Lakatamia area, the supply of drinking water was interrupted in several residential and industrial areas of the city and district of Nicosia. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources Development of Cyprus.
According to the official statement, the following localities were left without water supply: Lakatamia, Antoupoli, Deftera, Anageia, Ergates, as well as the Ergates industrial zone.
The Ministry of Water Resources emphasized that it is working in coordination with all relevant authorities in order to restore the normal operation of the water supply system as soon as possible.
The incident received wide coverage in the Cypriot media. Kathimerini published a detailed report dated August 27, 2025, indicating that the accident occurred in the central pipeline system in Lakatamia.
