There are more pupils and students in schools and universities in Cyprus, and education spending has risen to €1.6 billion

In 2025, Cyprus recorded an increase in the number of students amid growing government spending on the education sector. This is evidenced by current data and budget indicators presented by the authorities.
According to sector-specific bodies, in recent years there has been a steady inflow of students to both public and private educational institutions. The growth is linked both to an increase in the number of local applicants and to interest from foreign students.
At the same time, the state has expanded funding for the education sector. Additional funds are being allocated to maintain educational institutions, improve infrastructure, support teaching staff, and develop educational programs.
The authorities emphasize that these figures reflect dynamics during 2025 rather than final annual statistics, which will be summarized after the year ends. Nevertheless, a stable upward trend in the education sector is already being noted.
