Makarios Avenue in central Nicosia was temporarily closed on the evening of December 24

On the evening of December 24, traffic along Makarios Avenue in central Nicosia was temporarily suspended. The reason was a sharp increase in pedestrian flow and heightened activity in the city center on the eve of Christmas.
The decision was taken оперативly for safety reasons. Police officers were on site regulating traffic and redirecting vehicles. The restrictions were lifted once the situation eased.
