Cyprus authorities have issued a warning ahead of Green Monday
The Republic of Cyprus authorities have issued several recommendations aimed at ensuring safety and environmental protection during the celebration of Green Monday.
In particular, the Department of Civil Aviation urged the public to refrain from flying traditional kites or drones near Larnaca and Paphos airports during Green Monday. They could cause disruptions to aircraft approaching the runway.
The Department of Forestry called on the public to maintain cleanliness and protect nature during the holiday period.
Additionally, citizens heading to forests and rural areas are strongly advised to avoid damaging wildflowers and shrubs, many of which are protected species or are at risk of extinction.
Authorities also warned against unauthorized bonfires in forest areas and urged people to clean up after picnics.
Furthermore, the population was reminded of the threat of pine tree infestation by sawflies. People are advised to stay away from affected trees and avoid contact with the insect's caterpillars.
It was previously reported that this year, the Agia Marina chapel in the buffer zone of Famagusta will be open to visitors on Green Monday.
