Bus Drivers in Cyprus to Hold Two-Hour Strike
Bus drivers belonging to the OMEPEGE-SEC and SEGDAMELIN-PEO unions have announced a warning work stoppage on Friday, March 27, from 09:00 to 11:00.
According to the statement, the decision follows repeated appeals to the Ministry of Transport regarding issues related to the traffic violation photo-fixation system. The unions claim that no effective solution has been found yet.
A primary concern for drivers is the lack of warning systems for red traffic lights. This leads to abrupt braking, which can pose a threat to passengers.
The unions emphasized that a bus cannot stop instantly due to its dimensions and the presence of standing passengers or those without seatbelts.
The organizations apologized for any potential inconvenience to passengers.
