Ambulance Crew Saves Premature Baby After Home Birth

Riana Constantinou, Head of the Ambulance Service, shared an emotional message regarding the rescue of a newborn baby following a premature birth at just 27 weeks of pregnancy.
The incident occurred at night in a private home. Labor began prematurely, at approximately seven months of gestation.
According to Constantinou, neonatal resuscitation is an extremely challenging task even in a hospital setting, let alone during a home visit.
"Training, composure, and strict adherence to protocols are the key factors for success in the healthcare system and during rescue operations," she noted.
Despite significant difficulties, the operation was a success. The ambulance crew and the coordination center simultaneously managed two critical patients — the mother and the newborn — in a remote area.
The baby's condition was stabilized, thanks to the coordinated and professional efforts of the medical staff.
