The second case of heatstroke has been recorded in Cyprus
In Cyprus, the second case of heatstroke in two days has been recorded, this time affecting an elderly woman from a nursing home.
As with the first case, the incident occurred in Nicosia. A few hours ago, an 83-year-old woman was transferred from the nursing home to the emergency department of a multi-profile hospital with symptoms of heatstroke. Currently, the victim is being examined by attending physicians.
Recall that the first case of heatstroke in Cyprus this year was registered the day before. A 63-year-old man was brought to a general hospital in Nicosia. Yesterday, doctors assessed his condition as very severe. Today, he feels significantly better.
Due to the persistently high air temperatures in the region, state hospitals and the Ministry of Health are monitoring the situation and are in a state of heightened readiness. Earlier in Cyprus, heavy outdoor work during daylight hours was prohibited.
Today, the air temperature will rise again to 44°C. The Meteorological Service has issued a new orange warning, which will be in effect from 11:00 to 17:00.
