Wizz Air cuts flights to Cyprus due to technical issues
Wizz Air is suspending and reducing a number of flights in 2026, including the Skopje–Larnaca and Tuzla–Larnaca routes.
The reason is a global issue with Pratt & Whitney engines, which has forced part of the aircraft fleet to remain grounded. In early 2026, about 30–40 aircraft are out of service, and the problem is not expected to be fully resolved until 2027.
Against this backdrop, Wizz Air is redistributing resources, prioritizing more profitable routes in Western Europe. Some routes, including recently launched ones, may close just weeks after opening.
A further impact is the decline in demand on several routes, including the Balkans, where travel cancellations are being recorded for safety reasons.
Passengers are offered alternative options — including flights via Belgrade or departures from neighboring countries.
