Three teenagers have been detained for setting fire to a school in Limassol
Last Sunday in Limassol, the fire department was mobilized due to a fire at an elementary school. Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson at the educational institution.
According to the police press service, the fire was noticed at 15:00. Firefighters who arrived at the scene extinguished the fire, which occurred on the first floor on the north side of the building and in the elevator.
During the inspection of the scene, it was established that the perpetrators entered the cleaner's office, stole the keys, and then entered five rooms, setting fire to books in one of them. As a result of the fire, the masonry of the hall was damaged, and the furniture was burned. Director's offices on the first and second floors were also broken into, but nothing was stolen. The amount of damage from the fire has not yet been calculated.
Various evidence was seized from the scene. During further investigation, the police obtained evidence against three minors, who were called to the Limassol police department and then detained.
In accordance with juvenile delinquency legislation, written charges were brought against two 15-year-old teenagers, while the 9-year-old was released due to his age, as he is not criminally responsible.
