Two arrested in case of bus driver assault and abuse in Larnaca
Two men aged 50 and 22 were arrested on Monday by Larnaca police in connection with an alleged assault and abuse of a bus driver that occurred on Saturday, September 20, around 13:45.
According to the Police Department, the victim — a 59-year-old driver for Cyprus Public Transport — was operating a route in Larnaca. He reported that the driver and passenger of a vehicle ahead exited their car and, without cause, assaulted and abused him.
After the incident, the bus driver tried to stand in front of the alleged attackers’ vehicle until police arrived. The car driver started the vehicle and left, causing no further bodily harm to the victim.
The police collected witness statements against the two men and, with court orders, arrested them around 14:00 on Monday. Investigative actions regarding the incident are ongoing according to procedure.
