Eid al-Adha 2023 in Northern Cyprus

From June 28th, for three days, Muslims in Northern Cyprus celebrate the holiday of Kurban Bayram. During these days, many establishments and municipal services will not be operating. On Saturday and Sunday, only emergency services will be functioning. Government institutions, pharmacies, and banks will remain closed on the specified days.

Thus, on June 28th, only large supermarkets will open, and local shops will, at best, start operating after 4:00 PM.

Weekly markets will not be functioning if they fall on these days. Local markets will operate on a reduced schedule, just like local stores. It is better to stock up on groceries in advance.

The municipal market in Nicosia (Bandabuliya) will be closed on the first and second days of the holiday (June 28th and June 29th). The market will be open on June 30th and July 1st. The open market in Central Nicosia will take place on Sunday, July 2nd.

During the Kurban Bayram holiday, citizens can contact the police around the clock, without interruption, using the following telephone numbers: 155 for Police Assistance, 199 for the Fire Brigade, 156 for Drug Helpline, and other hotline numbers.
