April inflation in Northern Cyprus approached 6%
The Statistical Institute of Northern Cyprus announced inflation in March at 6.91%. Compared to December of last year, prices rose by 22.98%, with annual inflation reaching 95.60%.
According to the published data, the highest price increase in the past month was recorded in the main group "entertainment and culture" - 19.48%. In the category "restaurants and hotels," the increase was 16.15%.
"Communication" increased by 15.64%, "education" by 13.36%, and "alcoholic beverages and tobacco products" by 10.30%. Prices in the "Healthcare" category rose by 9.16%.
In the main group of food and non-alcoholic beverages, there was a decrease of 2.12%.
It is also noted that compared to the previous month, the average prices of 483 items included in the index increased, while 90 goods became cheaper.
The most significant price increases were observed in the lens care product - 244.66%, the cost of a mobile phone call (prepaid - GSM B operator) - 148.14%, and the cost of a mobile phone call (prepaid - GSM operator) - 65.18%.
The most significant price decreases were observed in cucumbers - 64%, lettuce - 58.16%, and fresh beans - 52.24%.
