Population of the TRNC Surpasses 476,000
The Statistics Institute of the TRNC has released an updated and revised population forecast for the country. As of the end of 2023, Northern Cyprus had a population of 476,214 people, consisting of 257,789 men and 218,425 women.
According to the statement from the institute, the forecast was developed based on data gathered from research and projections. The calculations were made using administrative records, adjusted migration data from the registration system, and results from the 2011 Housing and Population Census.
The study was carried out by a working group that included experts from the Turkish Statistical Institute.
"The country's demographic forecast has been refined to better address both national and international needs," the institute noted.
The latest data show the following population figures for the TRNC:
- In 2019: 420,556 (227,056 men and 193,500 women)
- In 2020: 419,810 (225,306 men and 194,504 women)
- In 2021: 448,268 (242,381 men and 205,887 women)
- In 2022: 462,747 (250,421 men and 212,326 women)
- By the end of 2023: 476,214 (257,789 men and 218,425 women)
It was emphasized that this forecast will now be utilized in calculations and reports involving demographic data about the country’s population.
