A large delegation from the TRNC is heading to Adiyaman today, where hearings on the Isias Hotel case will resume tomorrow. About a hundred Turkish Cypriots, including politicians, officials, and relatives of those who died during the hotel collapse, will be present at the court hearing.

The delegation flew from Erjan Airport in Istanbul, departing for Adiyaman at noon.

In order to attend tomorrow's hearings, those sent to Turkey include Prime Minister of the TRNC Yunel Yustel and his accompanying team, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoglu, Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oguz, Minister of National Education Nazim Chavushoglu, as well as representatives of political parties and other politicians and officials.

The delegation also includes a large family delegation, the President of the Bar Association, and a team of lawyers.

Recall that a total of 72 people died during the collapse of the Grand Isias Hotel in Adiyaman during the earthquake in Turkey on February 6, 2023, 35 of whom were Turkish Cypriots - students of the Famagusta Turkish College Maarif volleyball team, also known as the Angels-Champions.

Recall also that the first hearing on the Grand Isias Hotel case was held in January at the 3rd High Criminal Court of Adiyaman. Following several days of hearings, the court issued several temporary decisions.

In particular, the court ruled that five out of eleven defendants would remain in custody, while six others would remain free under judicial supervision. Lawyers for the families of the Angels-Champions objected to the decisions made. The second hearing will begin on Friday, April 26, at 09:00.
