Turkish President Erdogan stated that a large-scale program for the restoration of historical sites affected by the devastating earthquake continues in Turkey and abroad. According to him, the restoration of 276 out of 377 sites has already been completed, and the remaining 101 are planned to be fully restored within the next year.

Speaking at the "Foundations Week" event in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized that the preservation of cultural and architectural heritage is a priority of state policy. He noted that these sites represent not only historical but also spiritual value, reflecting traditions of charity, architecture, and public service.

The President paid special attention to international projects. Specifically, restoration work continues on 11 sites in Northern Cyprus, North Macedonia, Kosovo, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These initiatives are being implemented with the participation of the Turkish General Directorate of Foundations and are aimed at preserving the region's shared cultural heritage.

Erdogan also noted that in recent years, iconic structures have been restored, including the Selimiye Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Nuruosmaniye complex. In addition, since 2012, about 40 sites outside of Turkey have been restored under various programs.

According to the president, it is planned to complete the restoration of all 377 historical buildings affected by the earthquake by 2026. He stressed that such projects strengthen cultural continuity and contribute to the transfer of historical heritage to future generations.
