French actress Brigitte Bardot has died at the age of 91
French actress and singer Brigitte Bardot has died at the age of 91, AFP reports. The publication is dated December 28, 2025.
Bardot rose to international fame after the release of Roger Vadim’s film “And God Created Woman” (1956). She was born in Paris in 1934 into a well-off traditional Catholic family and initially studied ballet at the Paris Conservatory.
At the age of 15, Bardot appeared on the cover of Elle magazine, after which she moved from a modeling career to acting. In 1952, shortly after turning 18, she married director Roger Vadim.
During her career, Bardot worked with leading European directors: she starred in Henri-Georges Clouzot’s film “The Truth” and in Jean-Luc Godard’s “Contempt.” She also appeared in the Hollywood western “Shalako” alongside Sean Connery. In 1969, Bardot became the first real person chosen as the model for France’s official symbol, Marianne.
In recent years, she was known as an activist for animal rights.
