The head of the TRNC Meteorology department was fired due to reports of drought
The Director of the Department of Meteorology of TRNC, Raif Ilker Buran, has been relieved of his position. The reason for dismissal was the reports of drought. The decision of the Council of Ministers on the official dismissal of the official has already been published in the 'Official Gazette.'
The personnel decision was commented on by the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arykli.
- Raif Ilker Buran's statement about drought prompted a reaction from the Ministry of Agriculture and other departments, and I dismissed him. It is my natural right to dismiss a manager," said the minister to Kıbrıs Postası.
The duties of the head of the meteorology department will be carried out by the director of the ministry.
It is noted that the reason for dismissal could have been this statement by the former head of the department:
'I foresee a year of semi-drought or regional drought. Due to the imbalance of precipitation, there may be a harvest in one region and drought in another. These forecasts are valid for the whole world. While one country suffers from drought, another may experience flooding.'
