Inflation in August in Northern Cyprus was 3.35%
According to the Statistical Office of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in August the monthly growth rate of consumer prices was 3.35%. Annual inflation, compared to the same period last year, reached 35.42%.
According to the Consumer Price Index, for the period since December of last year inflation amounted to 25.59%, and compared to August of the previous year — 35.42%.
The most noticeable price increases in August were in the following product categories:
- tomatoes — plus 216.79%;
- sweet peppers (for stuffing) — plus 136.43%;
- chili (charleston) — plus 127.22%.
At the same time, in the segment where prices decreased, we note:
- fresh okra — minus 35.01%;
- tickets to the state theater — minus 33.33%;
- arugula — minus 12.12%.
By main spending groups, the monthly changes are as follows:
- food and non-alcoholic beverages — +10.72%;
- other goods and services — +5.47%;
- restaurants and hotels — +3.15%;
- health — +2.95%;
- furniture, household appliances and household maintenance services — +2.93%;
- education — +2.35%;
- transport — +1.58%.
The only group in which a price decrease was recorded was clothing and footwear, by 1.79%.
In the overall price index base, 507 types of goods and services were taken into account. Of these, 81 items showed a decrease in average price, while the rest showed an increase.
