Large-scale police raids: arrests for drugs, theft, and illegal stay

Police reported a series of operations and raids conducted over the past 24 hours across the country. During the checks, suspects were detained in cases involving drugs, theft, fighting, money laundering, and immigration law violations.
One of the largest incidents was an operation on the Nicosia Northern Ring Road, where anti-narcotics officers detained three people — two 24-year-old men and a 21-year-old woman. They were found with approximately 40 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine. Another 6 grams of cannabis were seized in Iskele from a 46-year-old man.
Police are also investigating several theft cases. In Demirhan, a 44-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of stealing cosmetics from a supermarket. In Nicosia, a 26-year-old man was arrested for misappropriating a found wallet with cash, and in Iskele, a police officer was detained on charges of stealing a wallet from a car.
Law enforcement also focused on an incident in a market parking lot in Nicosia, where a fight broke out between two men due to a long-standing conflict. Both suffered serious injuries — broken fingers and noses — and were arrested.
In Lefke, a 27-year-old man was detained, suspected of laundering nearly 60,000 Turkish Liras obtained fraudulently through foreign information systems. Additionally, in Kumsal Park, police arrested a man for disturbing the peace while intoxicated.
As part of immigration checks, seven more people were detained for residing in the country without legal status or a residence permit. Investigations into all incidents are ongoing.
