Degirmenlik — Akıncılar Municipality held a lunch for the Day of Older Persons

On November 21 in Northern Cyprus, the Degirmenlik — Akıncılar Municipality organized a lunch for the Day of Older Persons at the Arkin Iskele Hotel in Iskele. Mayor Ali Karavezirler, his wife Mürvet Karavezirler, members of the municipal council, and village heads took part.

The event was aimed at residents aged 65+ from the communities under the municipality’s jurisdiction. Performances were given by the “5th Season of Life” choir of the Health and Social Support Department, as well as a duet by Belgin and Davut Ceylan Güden.

According to the municipality, residents from the villages of Balıkesir, Meriç, Gaziköy, Dilekkaya, Kırıkkale, Erdemli, Yiğitler, Akıncılar, Düzova, Cihangir, Kalavaç, Çukurova, Yeniceköy, Beyköy, Degirmenlik, Minareliköy and Demirhan attended the event.

Mayor Ali Karavezirler spoke about the work of the Day Care Center and thanked its staff. He noted the upcoming opening of new social facilities in Erdemli, Kırıkkale and Yiğitler, the implementation of the “Park of Life” project, and the continuation of investments in schools.

Karavezirler also informed about road works: in a number of villages, including Dilekkaya, Gaziköy, Balıkesir, Çukurova and Düzova, more than 10,000 tons of asphalt were laid. In the field of water infrastructure, an 8th well was drilled, a 4th 500-ton reservoir is being constructed, and 7 km of water pipes with diameters 160 and 110 were laid to supply water to Dilekkaya, Kırıkkale, Erdemli, Yiğitler and Gaziköy.
