The Municipal Chamber Theatre opened the season with the play “Raskolnikov”

The Chamber Theatre of Girne Municipality has opened its new theatre season with the play “Raskolnikov”, inspired by the classic novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
The production is directed by Ufuk Aydoğan, featuring actors Oğuzhan Kaya and Deniz Orhan on stage. Sound design is by Arda Aygün, lighting by Boysan Kuru, and scenography and set design by Cem Taşlıovalı. Stage management is handled by Ada Cem Dönmez, assisted by Salih Astam and Mehmet Ali Eygi. Piano parts for one of the songs in the play were recorded by Mehmet İzbul.
The play runs for 55 minutes and is performed as a one-act production. Two performances are scheduled for December — on 12 and 26 December at 20:30 on the stage of Girne Belediyesi Oda Tiyatrosu. Ticket price: 300 TL. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the performance at the theatre box office or online on the website. Entry is restricted to ages 18+.
The story centres on a young man who believes himself to be Raskolnikov and feels that the shadow of the literary character has overtaken his soul. Instead of an old pawnbroker, his target becomes a wealthy, young and radiant woman. The action unfolds on a theatre stage transformed into a space of reckoning and inner struggle. Director Ufuk Aydoğan notes that viewers “will feel the tension not only in their breath but in the deepest corners of their souls”.
