A man who fed a donkey cigarettes was fined 173,000 lira
In Karpas, a man who offered a cigarette to a donkey was fined 173,876 Turkish lira. This was announced by the director of the nature reserve, Kemal Basat.
Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing an unknown man in a car giving a cigarette to a donkey. When he tried to light it, the animal swallowed the cigarette.
Basat noted that the police responded immediately to the complaint and the perpetrator was identified. "Today the man was summoned to the police station, and the Department of Veterinary Services fined him the equivalent of four minimum wages, or 173,876 Turkish lira, in accordance with the Animal Protection Law."
Basat thanked the Veterinary Department and its staff who actively participated in resolving the issue and enforcing the law, as well as the Karpas police officers who quickly identified the offender and took the necessary actions.
