Passenger Assaulted by Crew on Ferry from Kyrenia to Mersin
An incident occurred aboard a ferry traveling from Kyrenia to Mersin: the crew of the vessel attacked a passenger who was dissatisfied with a significant delay in the journey.
According to Kibris Postasi, the altercation took place on the ferry en route from Kyrenia harbor to the port of Tasucu (Mersin). The voyage was reportedly delayed by approximately five hours. Many passengers expressed frustration and lodged complaints with employees of Filo Denizcilik, the company operating the ferry.
However, when questioned about the cause of the delay, crew members assaulted one of the passengers, causing serious injuries. Other passengers witnessed the assault and recorded footage of the incident, which circulated on social media.
Security forces responded to reports of the brawl on the ferry. However, neither party filed a formal complaint.
Following the release of footage of the incident on social media, Filo Denizcilik issued an official statement claiming that the assaulted passenger was intoxicated. They also announced the dismissal of the employee involved in the altercation.
It was also reported that the delay of the ferry, which was scheduled to depart at 12:00, was due to "vessel movements."
Despite departing five hours late, the ferry arrived safely in Mersin.
