The Yeşil Barış Hareketi movement announced the launch of an Environmental Rights Advisory Service within the framework of the “Yeşil ile Dayanışma” project, implemented in partnership with the Turkish Cypriot Bar Association and with financial support from the European Union.

According to the organization’s statement, the new service was created to strengthen the fight for environmental rights in Cyprus and to provide support to citizens in cases of environmental violations.

Residents will be able to use a special online form to report:

  • acute and chronic environmental problems in their areas;
  • actions or inaction harmful to the environment;
  • illegal construction, deforestation, pollution, and other violations.

All submissions will be reviewed by an expert team. Applicants will be provided with initial legal consultation and informed about possible further steps to protect environmental rights.

Yeşil Barış Hareketi emphasizes that the aim of the initiative is to strengthen public solidarity in the fight against environmental damage, protect the right to a healthy environment, and amplify the voice of citizens.

Submissions can be made via the online form at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfbTZHK3ipusgFSEqdDVmr0YH9j4ctUee2GA9MXjOVkQDJBZg/viewform

“Protecting nature is not a choice, but a right,” the movement’s statement notes.
