TEKNOFEST Comes to a Close in Northern Cyprus
The TEKNOFEST Aerospace, Space, and Technology Festival has wrapped up in Northern Cyprus, attracting huge crowds and celebrating innovation. Held at the old Ercan Airport, the four-day festival drew an impressive 225,000 visitors. On the final day, interest was so high that long queues formed at the entrance gates.
On Sunday, May 4, the final day of the event, winners were announced in various technology competitions, including “Social Innovation,” “Flying Car Simulation,” “Tourism Technologies,” “TEKNOFEST Robolig Blue Homeland,” and “TEKNOFEST TRNC Research Project.”
The award and closing ceremony was attended by President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, and Selçuk Bayraktar—Chairman of the TEKNOFEST Board and the Turkey Technology Team Foundation—were also present and offered their congratulations to the winners.

During the closing ceremony, commemorative plaques were presented to representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of National Defense in appreciation of their support.
Also in attendance were Turkey’s first and second astronauts, Alper Gezeravcı and Tuva Cihangir Atasever, who presented a keepsake to the TRNC President in honor of Turkey’s first manned space mission.
The ceremony ended with a group photo featuring members of the TEKNOFEST Board of Trustees, Board of Directors, and staff of the T3 Foundation.
This marked the first time TEKNOFEST—the world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival—was held in Northern Cyprus. The event drew over 47,000 applicants from 22 countries, including Turkey. Ultimately, 268 finalist teams, made up of 1,083 participants, competed in the final rounds.
The festival was held at the old Ercan Airport under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency, in collaboration with the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation), the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology, and 132 other partner institutions.
Notably, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the festival on Saturday, May 3.
