More than 2,300 drivers checked in Northern Cyprus: 49 vehicles taken off the road, two arrested

The police of Northern Cyprus conducted a large-scale traffic control operation. During the inspection, which took place yesterday across the country, 2,335 drivers were stopped and checked.
According to the traffic police department, 388 people were charged with various violations, 49 vehicles were taken out of service, and two drivers were arrested.
Recorded violations included:
206 cases of speeding,
29 — driving under the influence of alcohol,
9 — driving without insurance,
8 — driving without vehicle inspection,
17 — lack of registration document,
5 — using a mobile phone while driving,
2 — not wearing a seatbelt,
2 — running a red light,
2 — driving without a license and insurance,
4 — trucks over 5 tons driving on prohibited routes,
1 — dangerous driving,
1 — refusing to obey police stop order,
102 — other traffic violations.
The police reminded that regular inspections are carried out to improve road safety and reduce accidents. Drivers are urged to strictly follow speed limits and traffic laws.
