Fundraising for the Rehabilitation of Stray Donkeys in Northern Cyprus
The Tashkent Nature Park has launched a fundraising campaign to rehabilitate the stray donkeys of the Karpas Peninsula.
“In collaboration with the Tashkent Nature Park, we are working to rehabilitate stray donkeys that have been abandoned for years on the Karpas Peninsula,” the sanctuary said in a social media post.
This project aims not only to rescue the stray Karpas donkeys but also to address the unintentional damage they cause to the local environment and residents' crops.
Preparations for this joint project, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Erenköy-Karpas Municipality, began in late 2023. The work is now almost complete, and the project is set to officially launch on October 1, 2024.
The only thing missing for the project to run smoothly is funding. The cost of implementing the Karpas Donkey Management Plan is just €200 per donkey for a period of 10 years. By donating €200, you can sponsor a Karpas donkey and contribute to solving the “donkey problem” for the long term, benefiting everyone involved.
