In Northern Cyprus, the number of vehicles increased by 9,593 in four months

The Traffic Department of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport reported that as of August 31, 2025, the number of vehicles on the roads in Northern Cyprus (TRNC) reached 435,347, compared to 425,754 at the end of April 2025. Over four months, the fleet increased by 9,593 units, or 2.2%.

By vehicle type, the largest increase was recorded for passenger cars: between April and August, 5,656 new sedans were added to the roads, bringing the total to 263,550. Estate cars (station wagons) increased by 1,291 units, reaching 21,320. The number of motorcycles rose by 723 to 40,469.

Double-cabin pickups increased by 682, reaching 15,906. Tractors grew by 111, totaling 12,335.

By fuel type, the increase was mainly in petrol and diesel vehicles: petrol cars increased by 4,237 to 277,701, diesel vehicles by 3,125 to 144,198. Electric vehicles rose by 204 to 2,305, hybrids by 2,027 to 11,142.

It was noted that with the start of the school year and the increase in vehicles, traffic intensity and waiting times in jams increase during certain morning and evening hours.
