Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu Congratulates Social Services Department Staff on World Social Work Day

On March 17, 2026, the Minister of Labor and Social Security in Northern Cyprus, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, congratulated the staff of the Social Services Department on World Social Work Day, meeting with branch managers and district heads in his office.

In his speech, Hasipoğlu noted that social service specialists perform a vital task, being a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable groups of the population. He emphasized that by reaching out to disadvantaged people, these workers reflect the principles of a social state, and thanked all staff for their hard work and dedication.

The Director of the Social Services Department, Alev Ecevit, stated in turn that social workers provide support with great self-sacrifice, often sacrificing their personal time. She drew attention to the increase in social problems in recent years and the efforts to build human resources capacity: through new appointments in the department, a path to professionalization is opening, increasing the number of qualified staff and the quality of services provided.

For residents in Northern Cyprus, this means that with further strengthening of staff and professionalization of the department, an increase in the accessibility and quality of social services aimed at supporting vulnerable groups can be expected.
