Attempted Robbery in Famagusta Ends with Stabbing
An attempted robbery at a supermarket in Famagusta over the weekend turned violent, resulting in a stabbing. Two people were injured, one of them seriously. The police have identified and arrested the suspects.
According to the police spokesperson, the incident occurred early in the morning at the Akmar supermarket in the Karakol area of Famagusta.
Investigators report that a man and a woman entered the supermarket through an open window and attempted to steal alcoholic beverages. However, the shop owner and his father noticed the thieves and attempted to stop the robbery. The assailant then attacked the shop owners with a knife. The 24-year-old son suffered a minor injury to his hand, while his 65-year-old father was more seriously injured with a stab wound to the abdomen. Both victims were rushed to the Famagusta General Hospital. The younger man was treated and discharged, while the older man was kept under observation in the surgical department.
The police quickly traced the suspects and arrested two individuals, aged 14 and 22. The investigation is ongoing.
