The fire at the landfill south of the Arpalıklı quarries in Boğazköy has been extinguished
This morning, at around 10:15, a fire broke out at a landfill located south of the Arpalıklı quarries in Boğazköy, Northern Cyprus.
The firefighting operation involved the police, fire service, civil defense units, Forest Department staff, as well as military personnel and quarry machinery. A helicopter from the Security Forces Command provided aerial support.
According to the police press office, the fire has been contained and extinguished. Work is ongoing to cool down the remaining hot spots and cover them with soil using heavy equipment.
It was reported that the fire mainly affected garbage and construction waste. For residents, this means that cleanup operations are still underway in the area, and temporary engineering work may take place at the site.
