Prime Minister and leader of the National Unity Party (UBP) Ünal Üstel, at a meeting in Güzelyurt together with President Ersin Tatar, stated that under the signature of the UBP all major projects in the region had been implemented and announced the timelines of several facilities.

According to Ünal Üstel, the construction of the Güzelyurt hospital advanced thanks to the efforts of former Minister of Health Ali Pilli; the official opening is scheduled for November 15 with the participation of the President. He also said that an important road construction phase in the region has been completed, and in February a cold storage facility with a capacity of 15,000 tons for citrus products will be put into operation. Üstel noted the resumption of the social housing program after a 27-year break, with the first foundation laid in Güzelyurt.

The Prime Minister added that plans for 2026 include projects to restore Güzelyurt’s access to the sea and emphasized the need for political stability to fulfill commitments; he called to support the current government in the upcoming presidential elections on October 19.

What this means for residents: the launch of the hospital will improve access to healthcare services in the region, the cold storage facility will help reduce losses for citrus producers, and the resumption of social housing will provide additional options for those in need. The official timelines and scale of work, according to the authorities, depend on the continuation of current political stability.
