President of TRNC Makes 33 Foreign Trips in Three Years
The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, has embarked on 33 foreign trips over the past three years. His most frequent destinations have been the capitals of Turkey, Ankara, and Istanbul.
Ersin Tatar has held office for 3 years and 7 months since October 23, 2020. During this tenure, he has left the island 33 times. His inaugural official foreign trip as leader of the Turkish Cypriots took place on October 26, 2020, to Ankara.
In 2021, the President of Northern Cyprus traveled abroad 6 times, followed by 9 trips in 2022, and another 8 in 2023. Since the start of 2024, Ersin Tatar has already conducted 9 foreign tours, including visits to the USA, Gambia, and Australia, thereby becoming the first TRNC president to visit the continent of Australia.
It is noteworthy that President Tatar utilized air transport for 32 out of his 33 foreign visits, opting for sea travel only once - to Mersin and Osmaniye in July 2022.
During this period, President Ersin Tatar visited Ankara 7 times and Istanbul 5 times.
Previously reported, during his travels, Ersin Tatar received honorary doctorates from 25 Turkish universities. Additionally, he was granted honorary citizenship by two Turkish municipalities - Giresun and Denizli.
