Five people injured in an accident involving two school buses in İskele
An accident involving two school buses occurred in İskele, resulting in four children and a chaperone being injured. All those affected were discharged after examination and treatment.
According to the Police Press Office, the accident happened around 07:30 in front of the İskele Municipality building. One of the buses, moving inattentively eastward, did not stop at the intersection and entered the main road. At that moment, it blocked the path of another bus traveling north. A collision occurred — the impact struck the front left side of the second bus.
Passengers of the second bus — Ekrin Arya Durur, Sevil Rustamova, Poiraz Ali Doun, and Vasalisa Baranouska — were taken to İskele Sağlık Merkezi. After initial examinations, the children were sent home. The bus chaperone, Erken Erkyran, was taken to Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi Hastanesi, where he was diagnosed with a wrist fracture. After treatment, he was discharged.
The Ministry of Education reported that there were about 20 students in the two buses. Immediately after the accident, ten children were taken to the İskele medical center for precautionary check-ups — all were discharged after initial checks. Later, three students were sent to Gazimağusa State Hospital for further examinations. After a short observation, they were also discharged.
The ministry emphasized that no student was injured, which was the main relief after the incident. The only injury was to the chaperone, whose condition is satisfactory.
