Fines for Illegal Hunting, Drug Arrests, and Fake Documents: Police Report

The Northern Cyprus Police reported a series of offenses detected in various regions of the country over the past 24 hours.

Illegal Hunting in Bafra

In the Bafra area, within a zone closed for hunting, two men aged 47 and 49 were detained. An inspection revealed that they were hunting illegally. Each was fined an amount equivalent to twice the minimum wage.

Drugs at Ercan Airport

At Ercan Airport around 02:00, during a passenger check, police discovered about 3 grams of a substance presumed to be marijuana, as well as a grinder with traces of the drug, on a 25-year-old man departing abroad. The man was detained, and the seized items were added to the case.

Fake Lease Agreement

A case of a fictitious lease agreement for the purpose of obtaining a residence permit was detected. According to police, in December 2025, a 76-year-old man, with the assistance of two others, prepared and used a fake lease agreement in the Karşıyaka area.

As a result of the investigation, two suspects were detained, and another person was declared wanted.

Disturbance of Public Order

In Düzova and Famagusta, two individuals were detained:

  • a 43-year-old woman under the influence of alcohol (185 mg);
  • a 35-year-old man who refused to take a breathalyzer test but showed signs of intoxication.

Both were loudly disturbing public order and were caught in the act.

Violation of Closing Hours

In Lapta, police detected a bar operating past the permitted closing time. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the owner.

Illegal Stay in the Country

During inspections across the country, two individuals were found to be in Northern Cyprus without legal status. They were detained, and legal procedures have been initiated against them.

The police continue investigations into all the mentioned cases.
