Fatal accident on the Lefkosa–Iskele highway: two dead, five injured
On Friday, September 12, a serious accident occurred on the Lefkosa–Iskele highway, resulting in two deaths and five injuries.
According to police, at around 14:45, a car driven by a 31-year-old woman, heading towards Ercan Airport, veered into the oncoming lane near the village of Gönendere. There it collided with a car driven by a 23-year-old man.
The impact killed the driver of the second car and his 22-year-old passenger instantly.
Five people were injured, including the driver of the first car, a man and a woman, as well as two children aged one and a half years. All the injured were taken to hospitals in Lefkosa and Famagusta, where they continue to receive treatment.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
