Dr. Suat Günsel Scholarship in Northern Cyprus expanded to university level

The Near East Organization announced on April 2, 2026, that by decision of the Günsel Family Council, the Dr. Suat Günsel scholarship and the "full educational scholarship" model now also cover higher education in Northern Cyprus.

The decision stipulates that students who received scholarships in the Organization's schools — Near East College, Dr. Suat Günsel College in Kyrenia, and Near East College in Yeni Boğaziçi — will be able to continue their studies at Near East University and the University of Kyrenia with full funding. Students with a "full educational scholarship" will receive 50% tuition coverage for the faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and pilot training; for all other faculties, full coverage is maintained.

According to Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, the expansion aims to strengthen equal opportunities and ensure a continuous academic path from secondary education to a university degree. For families, this means a long-term financial guarantee; for students, the opportunity to focus on their studies.

Those wishing to receive a scholarship must participate in the Organization's Selection and Entrance Exam, which will take place on May 23. Based on the exam results, full, half, and quarter scholarships will be distributed.
