An EMU student EdTech startup has been valued at $500,000
A new project in the field of educational technologies has been added to the portfolio of Cypriot startups. It was developed by students of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) of Northern Cyprus — Sultan Abi and Ansar Kurmanaliev. Importantly, this is not a theoretical idea, but a practical tool for real educational processes.

The project is called Custodia. It is an AI-based educational platform presented as a plugin for the popular learning management system Moodle, which is used by universities around the world, including Cypriot institutions.
Custodia integrates directly into the learning environment and gains access to course materials: lectures, presentations, assignments, and additional files. The artificial intelligence then analyzes how students interact with the content and helps make learning more understandable and effective.
For students, the platform acts as an AI assistant: it helps navigate large volumes of material, explains complex topics, and speeds up the search for needed information. For teachers, the key tool is analytics — the plugin shows which topics cause difficulties, where students ask questions most often, and at which stages problems arise.
A distinctive feature of Custodia is international communication. Students from different countries taking the same or similar courses can discuss topics, share experiences, and see how the subject is taught in other educational systems. The developers note that this function makes the project unique and without direct analogues.
At the moment, the startup is in the development stage and has already received a preliminary pre-money valuation of $500,000. The further value of the project will depend on testing results and implementation in real courses. The main interest will begin when students and teachers start using the plugin and the first practical results appear.
