Worker Dies After Fall at Construction Site in Tatlısu
The number of workplace fatalities in the TRNC has risen to five since the beginning of the year.
The latest tragedy occurred on April 25. Naseer Ali, a 24-year-old construction worker, was carrying out plastering work on the first floor of a building under construction in Tatlısu. While moving backward with a wheelbarrow, he lost his balance and fell from a balcony approximately three meters high.
Paramedics arrived quickly and provided first aid before taking him to Famagusta Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He was later transferred to Yeniboğaziçi Near East Hospital and placed in intensive care. Despite doctors’ efforts, his life could not be saved.
The exact cause of death will be confirmed through an autopsy. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
At the end of April, authorities had already reported four workplace deaths and six injuries since the start of the year.
