Man in Nicosia Sold Non-Existent Land for £30,000
In Nicosia, a man detained in a case of document forgery and fraud has appeared before the court.
According to police data, in September 2024, the suspect altered information in documents for a plot of land he owned, providing a false number and characteristics, and sold the non-existent land to another person for 30,000 British pounds.
The buyer discovered that the plot existed only on paper and reported it to the police on December 25, 2025, after which an investigation was launched.
The investigation established that the forged documents were used in official institutions. The suspect was detained, and handwriting and signature samples were taken for forensic examination.
For its part, the defense claims that the money was transferred not for the land, but as part of a debt obligation, and denies the fact of the land sale.
The court ordered the suspect to remain in custody for an additional 2 days to continue the investigation.
