In the past week, Northern Cyprus saw nine fires and 52 incidents that required the intervention of rescuers.

According to the weekly report from the General Directorate of Police, the total damage caused by the fires amounted to 913,000 Turkish lira.

The likely causes of the fires include short circuits, the ignition of oils accumulated in chimneys, fuel leaks, and fires caused by roof boards catching fire in chimney flues.

In addition to extinguishing the fires, firefighters rescued individuals trapped on balconies, in elevators, and in vehicles following accidents. They also saved cats stuck on rooftops, in cars, and with their heads caught in cans, as well as a dog trapped between metal bars.
