Fire Damage in the TRNC Exceeds 70,000 Lira in Just One Week
In the past week, Northern Cyprus witnessed nine fires and 25 incidents that required the intervention of rescue teams.
According to the weekly report from the Directorate General of Police, the total damage caused by these fires has reached a staggering 717,000 lira.
The likely causes of the fires include electrical short circuits, a pot left on the stove, a turbocharger fire in a vehicle’s engine compartment. The ignition of foam materials in a container due to sparks while working with a welding machine.
Beyond extinguishing fires, firefighters also carried out numerous rescues. These included saving people trapped in vehicles after accidents, cats stranded on balconies, roofs, and even on telephone poles and trees, as well as dogs and sheep that had fallen into wells.
