Forest fires broke out in Antalya and Muğla in the evening and at night, Alanya district evacuated
Forest fires occurred on the evening of September 18 and the night of September 19 in the provinces of Antalya and Muğla, Turkey. In the Alanya district, the fire started in the Ali Efendi area and, under the influence of strong winds, spread to the Ispatlı area; residential houses and greenhouses were partially damaged, and evacuation was carried out.
In Muğla, seven fire outbreaks were recorded overnight. According to the source, four fires were extinguished, and three continue to be fought: two in the Milas district and one in the Köyceğiz district. During the night, forest brigades, firefighters, local residents, and volunteers worked on extinguishing the fires; by morning, aerial firefighting had begun.
In Alanya, one possible cause of the fire is considered to be friction of electrical wires. Alanya District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk noted that the wind contributed to the rapid spread of the fire and that all state agencies are involved in the firefighting efforts.
